Trailer Trash (Marky Mark and the Ferrell Bunch Edition)

There should be a genre of film out there where you take two police officers, who are nothing alike, and have them solve crimes between comic banter. It could be called... THE BUDDY COP GENRE! Bingo! Get InventHelp on the phone!

Wait... it's been done before? WHAT?! No, I did not see Cop Out, or any of those 80's movies... or anything with Jackie Chan.

They're making another one? With Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg? I should watch the trailer right now? OK...

OK, all irony aside, it doesn't look so bad. I was a little put off by the fact that they showed an action sequence with Samuel L. Jackson and Dwayne Johnson and they went straight to: "From the Director of Step Brothers!" The rest of it looks well enough. Even though I REALLY want to know where Jackson could possibly shove his hand.

By the way, quite a cast here. Besides another increasingly common Rob Riggle sighting, you also have Steve Coogan, who has already won my heart with his roles in the likes of Tropic Thunder and In the Loop. Plus, the suicidal man was the guy who played David Wallace on The Office. The biggest mystery to me was saving Michael Keaton until the end of the trailer when Wahlberg wails about being a peacock.

Speaking of Mark Wahlberg, he brings back his Departed hair-do for this movie, probably not by accident. In fact, I hope they reference his role in that film several times, even though this film is sadly sans Alec Baldwin. He seems to be having a good enough time. Eva Mendes as Ferrell's wife was priceless.

Looking at the credits online, it looks like there might be some big cameos in store, including names such as Paris Hilton and Derek Jeter. Personally, I hope this film goes hard-R. Those are always the best cop films, and you don't censor my Samuel L. "Muthalovin" Jackson without a fight.

The film is directed by the aforementioned "Director of Step Brothers!" Adam McKay. He has worked several times with Ferrell, including his work on Talladega Nights and Anchorman. (Love the latter, indifferent about the former.) He and Ferrell also co-founded the "Funny or Die" website, which is my second favorite comedy website behind only "Bieber or Die".

In short, I definitely want to see this, even though it appears far from perfect. Let's wait and find out. I really want to see Will Ferrell rebound from Land of the Lost.
