I HAVE MOVED

Hello, everyone. Thank you very much for reading CinemaSlants these few years. I have moved my writing over to a new blog: The Screen Addict. You can find it here: http://thescreenaddict.com/.

I hope you follow me to my new location! You can find an explanation for the move on that site now or on the CinemaSlants Facebook page.

Disc of the Week (6/28/11)

This week’s home entertainment recommendation is… your children. When was the last time you all went out and threw the ball around? Heck, when was the last time you looked at each other? And I’m not just saying this because there are no good DVD/Blu-ray recommendations this week and I have nothing to say. Honestly. This is an important recommendation I’m making here, and it has nothing to do with the fact that the best movie coming out this week is freaking Season of the Witch. (I mean, really?)

Besides, it’s Independence Day weekend here in the United States of America. Shouldn’t you be having a cookout or something instead of gathering around your television to watch Ron Perlman not really try all that hard? Your time would even be better spent going to the multiplexes this weekend to see Transformers: Dark of the Moon or Larry Muthalovin’ Crowne. Even if they’re both not very good, which is likely going to be the case. Still, in a week where that nightmare Sucker Punch is coming out on DVD, you’d be better off just ignoring the DVD/Blu-ray market altogether.

So that is your homework for this week. Go hug your children. And if you don’t have a child, go and steal one, Raising Arizona-style.

P.S.- As much as I have bashed Sucker Punch on this blog (and there may be more coming in the next week or so), I must say I have become intrigued by the prospect of a Director's Cut. Could Snyder's true creative vision have been something more substantial? Not long ago, Warner Bros. released the following musical clip, which is better than anything I saw in the theatrical cut. Even in its extended edition, I don't think Sucker Punch will be a good movie. However, I may make some time to check out just what was left on the cutting room floor.
