I loved District 9. Particularly, I loved the work of Sharlto Copley, who actually gave a performance of impressive depth, and without him the film almost certainly would not have been nominated for Best Picture like it was. What is the next step for Sharlto Copley? Obviously a big Hollywood blockbuster.
So he ends up in The A-Team alongside Liam "Release the Kraken!" Neeson, Bradley "Get Lost in My Eyes" Cooper and Quinton "Rampage" Jackson (his actual nickname). Let's take a look at the new, SECOND trailer:
Pretty cool trailer overall, I'd say. This is the second one released, and I feel the film is better marketed in this one. The first tried to sell the film as a more serious piece of work... then ended with the insanely ridiculous Bradley Cooper fires tank while falling at terminal velocity sequence. In this trailer we are treated to a few more of those moments, showing that this movie is aiming for over-the-top, and in a few instances self-referential. ("We have to finish the escape!" Ho ho.)
I have not seen an episode of the original series, but if my research does not fail me the plot line is similar. A group of soldiers who were really really good at their job are accused of a crime they didn't commit, thus they go around blowing stuff up. Good, because I was about to get on the movie's case for going straight for the "rogue spy" plotline that's been done a million times. Turns out it was the plot they were bound to.
As for Copley, we hardly have an adequate sample size from these two trailers to judge how his first big-budget Hollywood performance goes, but from what we have it seems that he is having a bit of trouble with the accent, but I don't think it should hurt the film too much. Even if it is on the bad side, we can always look back at the days when he cursed at prawns.
